Our Story

Founded in 2017, the UNITE HERE Chicago Hospitality Apprenticeship Fund is a collaborative effort between the UNITE HERE Local 1 union and employer partners. This initiative aims to cultivate talent for the Hospitality and Tourism industry. In December 2019, UHCHI achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first U.S. Department of Labor Certified Apprenticeship for Chef de Partie in Illinois, and the second in the nation. By recruiting, training, and retaining skilled employees, UHCHI ensures high-quality guest services in the Chicagoland area.

Impact

With a completion rate of 75.3%, UHCHI has successfully engaged over 146 Apprentices in the Chef de Partie program, providing them with essential skills for a thriving career.
