Our Story

Founded in 1995, Union Street Gallery emerged from a small business incubation project supported by the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation. In 1998, a group of dedicated studio artists formed a collaborative to operate the gallery, transforming it into a vital local and national art resource. Despite facing challenges in 2004 when funding was cut, the artists persevered, securing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and a historic building in 2006. Today, this landmark houses fifteen artist studios and two expansive gallery floors, welcoming around 3000 visitors annually.

Impact

Union Street Gallery enriches the cultural landscape of Chicago’s Southland by providing engaging arts experiences that nurture both artists and art lovers.
