The Underdog Family

Our Story

In the summer of 2020, a visit to a local black-owned restaurant revealed the struggles small businesses face in Denver. Despite being listed as open, the restaurant was closing early due to outdated information. This experience inspired the formation of The Underdog Family (TUF), founded by Chin Weerappuli, a first-generation Sri Lankan-American immigrant. TUF was established as a 501(c)(3) organization to connect local businesses with essential professional resources and alleviate financial burdens exacerbated by the pandemic.

Impact

Since its inception, TUF has provided free technical services to over 20 small businesses, fostering community collaboration and support.
