Unbound, originally founded as the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging in 1981, has a rich history of walking alongside the poor and marginalized. Established by five co-founders, the organization began by inviting sponsors through personal outreach and Catholic publications. Over the years, Unbound has expanded its programs globally, focusing on child, youth, and elder sponsorship, while evolving its mission to reflect the limitless potential of those it serves.
Impact
Since its inception, Unbound has partnered with over 1 million sponsored friends, providing more than $2 billion in assistance to families in need. With 90.2% of its expenses directed towards program support, Unbound's initiatives have led to the establishment of over 12,500 small groups for mutual support, the creation of 159 cooperatives, and the launch of the Agents of Change program, funding community-led projects to improve living conditions and access to education.
