Our Story
The Tyger River Foundation was established in 2007 by a dedicated group of citizens who recognized the need for a unified organization to promote, protect, and restore the Tyger River Area. This historic region, rich in natural beauty and cultural significance, is home to the oldest grist mill in South Carolina, Anderson Mill, which the foundation has successfully acquired and restored. Through initiatives like river sweeps and the opening of public parks, including the Nesbitt Shoals Nature Park, the foundation is committed to enhancing public access to the river and fostering a love for the outdoors.
