Turning Point: A Lifeline for Survivors

Since 1985, Turning Point has been a beacon of hope for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in Union County. Founded by a group of concerned citizens, the organization began with a crisis line for those in need. Over the years, it has evolved into a comprehensive support system, offering safe shelter, counseling, and advocacy services.

In 1988, the community rallied to open a temporary shelter, which soon became a permanent home for survivors. The dream of a dedicated facility was realized in 2001 with the opening of a new 42-bed shelter, providing a safe haven for those escaping violence. In 2015, Turning Point expanded its services by acquiring the Sexual Assault Resource Center and Tree House Children’s Advocacy Center, further enhancing its ability to support survivors.

Impacting Lives Every Day

Turning Point is the only organization in Union County dedicated to providing emergency and lifesaving resources for survivors. In 2023 alone, 1,372 individuals benefited from the domestic violence shelter and programs, while 548 child victims received support at the Tree House Children’s Advocacy Center. Additionally, 241 survivors of sexual assault accessed crucial crisis intervention services.
