Empowering Women and Families in Crisis
Founded in 2004, Turning Point for Women and Families addresses the urgent need for culturally sensitive domestic violence services within New York City’s Muslim community. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, founder Robina Niaz, an immigrant and survivor, recognized the barriers faced by women and girls in her community. Turning Point has since become a beacon of hope, offering crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and leadership development opportunities.
Significant Community Impact
In 2021 alone, Turning Point provided 3,637 services to Muslim women and girls, reaching over 4,264 individuals through outreach and education efforts.
