Our Story

The Tucson Botanical Gardens was founded in 1964 by horticulturist Harrison G. Yocum. What began as a private collection of cacti and palms has blossomed into a vibrant nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of the historic Porter Family property. Since its establishment as a nonprofit in 1969, the Gardens have expanded and renovated, focusing on education, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

Impact

Connecting people with plants and nature, the Tucson Botanical Gardens serves as a sanctuary for wild birds and a center for education.
