True North began as 'The Shelter' in the 1970s, founded by University of Missouri graduate students dedicated to supporting rape survivors. Overwhelmed by the demand for services, the organization evolved into a comprehensive program addressing domestic and sexual violence. Today, True North empowers individuals affected by intimate partner violence, helping them reclaim their lives and heal from trauma.

Impact in the Community

In the past year, True North handled 4,273 hotline calls, provided 6,454 emergency shelter bed nights, and served 743 participants, showcasing a significant impact in the fight against domestic and sexual violence.
