Transforming Lives at True Light Family Resource Center

Founded in 2006 by Pastor Alice Piggee-Wallack, True Light Family Resource Center (TLFRC) is dedicated to serving individuals and families who are homeless, marginalized, or living below the poverty line in Kansas City, Missouri. Located at 712 East 31st Street, TLFRC has become a beacon of hope in a community that once faced significant challenges.

With a range of services including a free clothes closet, hygiene supplies, diapers, sack lunches, emergency assistance, and a women’s day shelter, TLFRC addresses the immediate needs of those in crisis. The establishment of Emancipation Station in 2007 provided a safe haven for women who would otherwise be left vulnerable on the streets. This day shelter not only offers shelter but also fosters a sense of community and support, empowering women to change their lives.

In 2010, TLFRC expanded its mission by acquiring Freedom House, a transitional home for single adult women. This program equips women with the skills and resources necessary for independence and self-sufficiency. TLFRC continues to adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of the urban community, standing as a strong partner for community change.
