The Trousdale School was founded in 2005 by Thomas D. Johnson, Judith L. Johnson, and Christin J. Rose to provide affordable continued education for adults with intellectual disabilities. Inspired by their daughter Sarah, who has Down syndrome, the school began with just three students and has since grown to serve approximately 35 students, focusing on independence and quality of life.
Trousdale School became the first organization in Tennessee to be licensed as an Adult Habilitation Day Facility, offering essential educational and residential services to adults with intellectual disabilities.
