Our Story

In 1988, a group of thirty-five high school musicians from North Carolina's Triangle area united to form a symphony orchestra, guided by Principal Violist Hugh Partridge. This collaboration led to the establishment of the Triangle Youth Philharmonic, which has since evolved into a full symphony orchestra. The introduction of the jazz program in 2005 marked a significant milestone, allowing student musicians to perform at Raleigh's Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration. Over the years, Triangle Youth Music has partnered with esteemed organizations like the Cary Ballet and Jazz at Lincoln Center, enriching the musical journey of countless young talents.

Our Impact

Triangle Youth Music serves over 500 musicians annually, offering a nurturing environment for beginners and elite ensembles for dedicated young musicians. The Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble has gained national acclaim, receiving eight invitations to Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Festival, solidifying its status among the top 15 jazz bands in the nation. Additionally, the Triangle Youth Philharmonic proudly serves as the official youth orchestra of the North Carolina Symphony.
