Our Story

Founded in 2000 by a passionate group of citizens, Trees Columbus Inc. emerged in response to the potential loss of 150 mature trees in Lakebottom Park. Their determination and community action not only saved these majestic trees but also transformed Lakebottom Park into a cherished gathering place that harmonizes recreation with nature. Over the years, Trees Columbus has successfully advocated for a Tree Ordinance and planted over 20,000 new trees, fostering a vibrant urban forestry culture in Columbus.

Our Impact

With over 20,300 trees planted and numerous educational programs initiated, Trees Columbus has significantly enhanced the urban tree canopy in Columbus, Georgia. Community engagement through tree walks and events has further solidified the connection between residents and their environment.
