Our Story

The Travis County Association for the Blind, known as Austin Lighthouse, was founded in 1934 by Dr. Henry L. Hilgartner and dedicated citizens of Austin. This organization has transformed over the decades, providing essential skills training and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals in Central Texas.

Impact in the Community

Since its inception, Austin Lighthouse has employed over 200 individuals who are blind or visually impaired and has trained more than 1,000 people through 25 unique programs designed to enhance independence and quality of life.
