EIN: 47-3172588 · Baltimore, MD
Our Story
Founded in 2015, Trash Free Maryland emerged from a grassroots initiative aimed at combating trash pollution. The journey began in 2009 when Julie Lawson led a policy working group for the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative. This collaboration of advocates, government officials, and community members laid the groundwork for impactful legislation, including the successful push for plastic bag bans across multiple jurisdictions.
Our Impact
Trash Free Maryland has made significant strides in environmental protection, achieving statewide bans on plastic micro-beads and expanded polystyrene containers, and implementing 'Bring Your Own Bag' programs. These efforts have positioned Maryland as a leader in waste management and litter prevention.
