Trash for Peace

Our Story

Founded in Portland, Oregon, in 2012, Trash for Peace envisions a world without waste. This nonprofit organization believes in creating resilient and sustainable communities where everyone has a voice. Environmental justice is at the heart of its mission, focusing on innovative waste reduction and recycling systems designed by and for the community.

Impact

Trash for Peace serves over 450 unique youth and 80 families in Multnomah and Clackamas County. By utilizing reused and donated materials in after-school activities, thousands of pounds of trash are diverted from landfills. This year alone, over 50 tons of trash have been collected through peer-led litter collection programs, providing more than 500 unique jobs to community members facing job and housing insecurity.
