Trail Animals Running Club

Our Story

Founded in 1994 by Chris Haley and Howie Breinan, the Trail Animals Running Club (TARC) is the original trail running club of the Boston metro area. With a diverse membership of over 9,000 runners, TARC fosters a love for trail and ultrarunning, bringing together individuals of all ages and abilities. The club's home base is the scenic Blue Hills Reservation in Milton, Massachusetts, where members gather to run trails and organize events that promote community engagement and environmental stewardship.

Our Impact

TARC actively donates event profits to land conservations and trusts, ensuring the preservation of trails for future generations. Volunteer activities are also a key part of TARC's mission, as members work to maintain and improve the trails they cherish.
