Our Story
Founded in 2008, Traffick Free emerged from a commitment to raise awareness and educate the community about the harsh realities of sexual and labor exploitation in the greater Chicago area. Over the years, a robust network of partners, including city offices, non-profits, churches, schools, and civic organizations, has been established to enhance understanding of human trafficking within local communities. In 2017, after extensive research and collaboration with experts and survivors, Traffick Free proudly opened Chicago’s first emergency and overnight drop-in center for adult females who had experienced sex trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation. Although the drop-in center closed in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Traffick Free remains steadfast in its mission to combat human trafficking by focusing on education and awareness initiatives.
