About TRADART Foundation

Founded in 2000 in Santa Barbara by Leslie Meadowcroft-Schipper, TRADART Foundation is dedicated to revitalizing and maintaining essential woodshop and construction technology programs in local schools. The foundation emerged from a commitment to provide students with alternative educational opportunities beyond traditional academic paths. In 2005, the Tools for Schools program was launched, which has since played a pivotal role in ensuring the sustainability of woodshop classes across the Santa Barbara Unified School District.

Impact on Education

TRADART Foundation has successfully stabilized and enhanced the presence of woodshop and construction technology classes in the Santa Barbara Unified School District, impacting over 1,000 students annually through its programs and partnerships. Today, six thriving Construction Technology Woodshop classes are taught by dedicated educators, allowing students to earn dual-enrollment credit from Santa Barbara City College.
