Mentoring In Music Production

About Totem Star

Founded in July 2010, Totem Star began as a mobile recording studio in South Seattle, providing a platform for youth recently released from juvenile detention. This initiative blossomed into a nonprofit organization, fostering a vibrant community of young recording artists. Through partnerships with the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, the Office of Arts & Culture, and the Jubilation Foundation, Totem Star has empowered over 5,000 young individuals to express themselves through music.

Our Impact

In October 2023, Totem Star celebrated a significant milestone with the opening of a state-of-the-art recording studio at the historic King Street Station. This facility not only enhances music production opportunities but also serves as a safe haven for youth to explore their creativity and build essential life skills.
