Empowering Individuals with Disabilities

Total Link to Community was founded in 2008 by six dedicated mothers who envisioned a brighter future for their children with disabilities. Recognizing the need for quality services and support, they established a nonprofit organization committed to creating integrated and competitive employment opportunities. In 2012, Total Link received a significant investment from the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities as part of the Everyone Works! Initiative, which enabled the organization to make a profound impact in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

Transformative Impact on Employment

Through collaboration with the Council, Total Link successfully created integrated and competitive employment for 47 individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the organization provided customized employment training for 54 school personnel, parent advocates, and community members, fostering a more inclusive environment. By incorporating the principles of customized employment with the Dartmouth IPS Supported Employment Model, Total Link has established 24 new positions for young adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
