About Tompkins Center Historical Society
The Tompkins Center Historical Society (T.C.H.S.) is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Tompkins Township and Tompkins Center. Founded on the legacy of Sheridan Stewart, who generously donated his 175-acre Centennial Farm, T.C.H.S. aims to create a vibrant community space that honors the past while fostering future generations' appreciation for local history.
Located in the heart of Tompkins Township, the society has transformed the family home into a museum, offering tours and special events that engage the community. The ongoing restoration of historical buildings, development of nature trails, and the addition of facilities such as a pavilion, log cabin, barn, and schoolhouse reflect the commitment to preserving the township's heritage.
