Our Story

Founded by refugee women from East Africa, Tiyya Foundation is rooted in the personal experiences of Owliya Dima and her daughter Meymuna Hussein-Cattan. The foundation embodies core values of inclusion, empowerment, and economic advancement, helping program participants achieve economic mobility and community in the United States. Survivors of displacement are celebrated as true alchemists, transforming their lives after loss.

Our Impact

In Southern California, Tiyya Foundation has supported 250 households, impacting 750 individuals and 448 children. With job placements for 66 participants, a total of $1.63 million in combined annual wages has been generated. The foundation has expanded its reach to serve families from over 25 different countries, organizing field trips, soccer clinics, and monthly gatherings to distribute essential supplies.
