Tiwahe Foundation

Our Story

Tiwahe Foundation evolved from the American Indian Family Empowerment Program, initiated in 1993 by the Marbrook Foundation. This culturally responsive grantmaking initiative was inspired by Markell Brooks and operated with funds from a collaboration of three Minnesota family foundations. In 2009, it transformed into the Tiwahe Foundation, an independent community foundation dedicated to uplifting Indigenous voices and values.
