Our Story

Tiny WPA was conceived in 2012 as a program of Public Workshop, focusing on youth-led community design improvement projects. In 2014, it expanded into a nonprofit organization to empower a diverse, multigenerational community of civic change agents known as Building Heroes.

Impact

In just 20 weeks, Tiny WPA engaged 17 Building Heroes and 79 community volunteers to build 858 desks and 841 stools for 453 public school families in Philadelphia, showcasing significant community impact during the COVID-19 pandemic.
