Our Story
At just 17 months old, Ryan was the picture of health until a sudden fever led to a devastating diagnosis: leukemia. Admitted to UCLA’s pediatric hospital, Ryan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), specifically the rare and aggressive Philadelphia Chromosome ALL. Despite the grim prognosis, miracles began to unfold. Ryan became the first patient in the U.S. to participate in a groundbreaking study for a new medication, Dasatinib, which dramatically reduced his leukemia levels. The second miracle came when his twin sister, Lauren, was found to be a perfect bone marrow match. On March 18, 2009, Ryan received her life-saving donation, and in March 2014, he celebrated five years post-transplant. Today, Ryan is thriving in high school, enjoying snow skiing, video games, and football. The TigerFight Foundation was established to honor his journey and support others facing similar battles.
