Our Story

The Brisben Center, established in 1987 by six dedicated churches in downtown Fredericksburg, has transformed from a seasonal cold-weather shelter into the largest year-round emergency homeless center in the area. Named in honor of Anna Thurman Brisben, the center is committed to providing a safe haven for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including veterans.

Impact

Each year, the Brisben Center serves nearly 95,000 meals and provides shelter for up to 80 individuals and families, facilitating their transition out of homelessness. With the support of over 2,500 volunteers and 200 local organizations, the center plays a vital role in the community.
