Our Story

Three Sisters Gardens is a nonprofit organization based in West Sacramento, California, founded in 2018 by Alfred Melbourne. Inspired by the legend of the Three Sisters, this initiative focuses on teaching youth the art of gardening, from growing to harvesting and distributing organic vegetables. The organization emphasizes the importance of collaboration among youth, adults, and elders, fostering a sustainable food system that honors Mother Earth.

Impact

Since its inception, Three Sisters Gardens has donated 70% of its crops to local food-insecure homes, engaging 33 volunteers across four farm plots. This effort significantly contributes to community food security and education.
