Three Rivers Respite

Our Story

Heather and Matt Alt never imagined they would run a nonprofit or become foster parents. However, after experiencing the challenges of fostering 15 children and adopting three, they recognized a critical need for respite care in the foster community. This realization led to the creation of Three Rivers Respite, a serene seven-acre camp located on Johns Island near Charleston, South Carolina.

Three Rivers Respite is dedicated to providing support and encouragement to foster families and children. The camp serves as a consistent, year-round haven where children in foster care can enjoy fun activities and build meaningful relationships with peers and counselors.
