Our Story

Founded in 1970 by a dedicated group of businessmen and parents, Thomas Heyward Academy honors the legacy of Thomas Heyward, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Located in Jasper County, the academy opened its doors with 278 students and 12 teachers, aiming to provide a nurturing environment for academic and personal growth. Over the years, THA has evolved, welcoming influential figures and community supporters, including the Nimmer family, who have played a pivotal role in its development.
