Theatre Knoxville Downtown, affectionately known as TKD, is Knoxville’s oldest continuously operating, non-academic, all-volunteer, non-profit community theater. Established in March 1976, TKD has been a beacon of creativity and artistic expression in the Knoxville metropolitan area. Originally chartered as Knoxville Community Theatre, the organization has evolved over the decades, changing its name in 1988 and finding its permanent home at 800 South Central Street in 2019.
