The Youth Connection
EIN: 02-0647494 · Detroit, MI
Our Story
The Youth Connection was established in response to the 1992 Los Angeles riots, aiming to create systemic change in Detroit's youth engagement. Launched in 1996, the organization focuses on ensuring that 50% of school-aged children in Detroit, Mt. Clemens, and Pontiac participate in quality after-school programs. Over the years, the mission has expanded to include youth workforce development, impacting approximately 1,000 young individuals through various initiatives.
Impact
With a commitment to community health, The Youth Connection has trained 6,727 individuals in naloxone administration, distributed 7,600 naloxone kits, and successfully reversed 100 overdoses. Additionally, the organization has significantly increased after-school program participation, engaging 30,000 parents and youth at their Annual After-School Fair over the past 13 years.
