Our Story

The Vegetable Connection, formerly known as Friends of Happy Heart Farm, was founded by Dennis and Bailey Stenson, who recognized the need for nutritional, organic vegetables among families facing financial constraints. In 2009 and 2010, they donated six vegetable shares to families, igniting a passion for community support. Officially becoming a nonprofit in 2011, The Vegetable Connection expanded its Feeding the Families program, allowing more families to enjoy fresh vegetables weekly during the growing season. In 2015, a merger with The Food School further strengthened the mission to increase access to nutritious food and provide essential food education.
