The Urban Warehouse was founded by Jerry and his son, Christian, to create a vibrant space for community youth. The Garage Board Shop emerged as a hub for local talent, hosting art shows and providing a safe environment for youth. In 2009, the Skate-4-Education program was launched, merging skateboarding with education to address the needs of inner-city youth in Los Angeles.
Skate-4-Education teaches inner-city youth the importance of education through an after-school tutoring program, treating skateboarding as an academic sport. This initiative has successfully engaged students, fostering a supportive community and encouraging educational pursuits beyond K-12.
