Our Story

The United Way of Northern New York has a rich history rooted in community support, beginning as the Community Chest in Cleveland in 1913. Launched in Watertown in 1921, it evolved into the United Fund in 1970, serving Jefferson County, and later merged with Lewis County to form UWNNY. With further expansion in 2000, it now serves a vast area of 5,223 square miles across three counties.

Our Impact

Thanks to generous contributions, last year, vital programs operated by trusted nonprofit partners positively impacted countless individuals. Essential supplies and supportive services were provided to children, and ALICE families received the coordinated resources they needed to stabilize their lives.
