Our Story

The Tibetan Community of New York & New Jersey (TCNYNJ) was established in 1979 under the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. As the oldest Tibetan organization in the United States, TCNYNJ is dedicated to supporting the survival of Tibetan culture and identity. The organization works tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for Tibetans in the local community and worldwide, fulfilling His Holiness's vision of a governing body that cares for the needy and fosters future Tibetan leaders.

Our Impact

TCNYNJ supports a variety of Tibetan-based educational, cultural, and religious programs, reaching out to community members in need. With over 180 enrolled students in its weekend language and culture program, TCNYNJ demonstrates a strong commitment to preserving and sharing Tibetan cultural heritage.
