Our Story

In the late 1990s, three stewardship professionals recognized the limitations of both small, localized and large, centralized approaches to environmental stewardship. They envisioned a hybrid model that would leverage the strengths of both extremes. This vision led to the establishment of the Huron River Watershed Volunteer Stewardship Network in 1998, which laid the groundwork for The Stewardship Network (TSN) in 2004. TSN was created to enhance collaboration among communities dedicated to caring for local ecosystems, providing a centralized resource that empowers local stewardship groups without overshadowing their efforts.

Impacting Communities

Over the years, TSN has facilitated countless relationships among community groups, government entities, non-profits, and businesses. By breaking down barriers and fostering new lines of engagement, TSN is transforming the stewardship landscape. The organization has thrived, even during challenging times, expanding its staff and geographic reach to better serve its mission. TSN is committed to increasing the flow of positive human actions to address significant ecological challenges.

Why Donate?
