Our Story

The Spartanburg Soup Kitchen began in February 1981, initiated by compassionate members of Second Presbyterian Church who made sandwiches for a few hungry individuals. Over the years, the need for food assistance grew, leading to the establishment of a permanent mission. In 2009, the organization proudly obtained 501(c)(3) status and relocated to a new facility in 2012, continuing its vital mission of feeding the hungry in the community.

Daily, the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen serves hundreds of individuals, providing meals and support to those in need while fostering a sense of community and dignity among its guests.
