Our Story

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, originally known as Shakespeare Festival/LA, began its journey with a heartfelt production of Twelfth Night in Pershing Square. This unique event brought together theater enthusiasts and homeless residents, who took pride in promoting the show. Their involvement led to the creation of the Food for Thought admission policy, allowing attendees to donate non-perishable food items instead of purchasing tickets.

Impact

SCLA enriches Los Angeles with world-class theatrical productions and transformative arts education programs, focusing on underserved youth, veterans, and formerly incarcerated individuals.
