Our Story
Founded in 1972, The Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center was the first rape crisis center in Kansas, established in response to sexual assaults on the University of Kansas campus. A dedicated group of women came together to create a supportive community for survivors. Originally incorporated as Rape Victim Support Services in 1978, the organization evolved into GaDuGi SafeCenter in 2004, and was renamed in 2015 to reflect its ongoing commitment to survivors of sexual trauma and abuse.

The Care Center provides 24/7 support to survivors, fostering a culture of consent and accountability. Over the years, it has expanded its services to include advocacy, therapy, and education, positively impacting countless lives in the community.
