Our Story

Founded in 1966 by a passionate group of preschool teachers and parents, The San Francisco School was envisioned as a community where educators and families collaborate in leadership. Guided by the principles of Maria Montessori, the school began with just seven preschool students and has since expanded to serve 280 students across grades up to Eighth Grade. The school is dedicated to promoting ethnic and cultural diversity, supported by a robust Indexed Tuition program that ensures economic diversity among families.

Impact

The San Francisco School has cultivated an inclusive learning environment, with 66% of students identifying as students of color and 28% benefiting from reduced tuition through the Indexed Tuition program. The school has also successfully raised over five million dollars for the Steve Morris Community Center project, significantly enhancing facilities for sports and the arts.
