Our Story

The Race was founded by siblings Joshua and Danielle Berns, who, at ages 13 and 11, respectively, sought to create a platform for children and families to combat breast cancer. Originally named 'Kids for the Cure', The Race has evolved into a significant annual event that educates young participants about the importance of early detection and fundraising for breast cancer research. Over the past 16 years, this family-focused event has attracted thousands of participants each Mother’s Day, fostering a community dedicated to making a difference.

Impact

Through dedicated efforts, The Race has raised millions for breast cancer research, funding innovative projects at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Every contribution directly supports groundbreaking research aimed at developing new cancer vaccines and treatment technologies.
