Our Story

El Paso Opera began its journey in 1992 as Opera a la Carte, offering excerpts of classical opera. The overwhelming support from the community led to the expansion into a full-fledged opera company in 1994. By 2000, El Paso Opera boasted over 1000 season subscriptions, establishing itself as a cultural cornerstone in the region. Notably, it became the first opera company in the United States to feature dual supertitle translations in both English and Spanish, making opera accessible to a broader audience.

Impact

Donations to El Paso Opera are crucial for sustaining programming that enhances the quality of life for El Pasoans. Art and music not only bring joy but also contribute to mental and physical well-being, reducing anxiety and improving mood. Furthermore, our productions stimulate the local economy by employing artists and crew members and renting city venues.

Why Donate?

As a small non-profit arts organization, El Paso Opera relies heavily on donations to fund its operations. While ticket sales contribute to our revenue, they cover less than 40% of production costs. High ticket prices would deter audiences, so we keep them affordable. Your generous donations from individuals, companies, and foundations are essential for us to continue delivering high-quality operatic experiences. Without your support, our mission would not be possible!
