Our Story

Founded in 1970 in Portland, Oregon, the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest, Inc. is an Indian-owned and operated nonprofit agency. Initially established as an outpatient substance abuse treatment center, NARA NW has expanded its services to include a residential family treatment center, outpatient treatment, child and family services, a primary health care clinic, adult mental health locations, a wellness center, and transitional housing for Native women and children. The organization emphasizes the importance of family, believing that a strong family circle is essential for a sustainable future. Traditional Indian culture and spirituality are woven into the fabric of NARA NW’s services, ensuring a holistic approach to healing.
