Our Story
The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was founded in 1891 by a group of dedicated women in Philadelphia. As descendants of colonial ancestors, they aimed to honor and preserve the rich colonial history of the United States. The organization took a significant step in 1899 by acquiring Stenton, a historic site that has become a cornerstone of their preservation efforts. Over the years, the Dames have emerged as leaders in the restoration and interpretation of historic sites, ensuring that the legacy of America's past is cherished and understood.
