Transforming Lives Through Literacy
The Literacy Alliance, established in the 1970s, has been a beacon of hope for adults seeking to enhance their reading skills. Evolving from the Fort Wayne Literacy Council and the Northeast Indiana Literacy Coalition, it merged in 1988 to form the Three Rivers Literacy Alliance. In 2004, the organization rebranded to The Literacy Alliance, focusing on breaking the cycle of illiteracy in families.
Making a Lasting Impact
Since its inception, The Literacy Alliance has empowered over 16,000 adults to improve their literacy skills, with more than 2,200 achieving their high school equivalency diplomas. Additionally, nearly 2,000 K-3 graders have benefited from the Project Reads program, supported by 1,725 dedicated volunteers.
