Our Story
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was founded in 1949 by Rudolph and Antoinette de Villiers after their son Robbie lost his battle with leukemia. Frustrated by the lack of effective treatments, they established LLS to raise funds and educate the public about blood cancers. Today, LLS stands as the world’s largest voluntary health organization focused on blood cancer research and patient services.

With an investment of nearly $1.7 billion in groundbreaking research, LLS has been at the forefront of advancements in blood cancer treatment, including immunotherapy and personalized medicine. The organization also provides free information and support services to patients, advocating for access to quality care.
