Our Story

Founded in 1983 by dedicated resident physicians, The Lands Council is committed to safeguarding the wildlands of the St. Joe and Clearwater River regions in north Idaho. Over the years, the organization has broadened its mission to encompass the protection and restoration of forest ecosystems, rivers, and lakes across north Idaho, eastern Washington, northwestern Montana, and northeastern Oregon.

Impact

For four decades, The Lands Council has been a champion for the northwest’s forests, water, and wildlife, achieving significant reductions in illegal logging and spearheading numerous restoration projects.
