The Happy Crew

Our Story

Founded in 2007 by Amy Mays, The Happy Crew is dedicated to understanding and supporting teenagers. With over 30 years of experience as a youth director, counselor, and life coach, Amy recognized the urgent need for a supportive community after a tragic spike in teen suicides in Douglas County, Colorado, during the 2014-2015 school year. In response, a group of high school students united with a powerful message: "No more on our watch." They began a movement, connecting with peers in meaningful ways, and spreading the message that "YOU MATTER." This grassroots effort has blossomed into a vital organization that empowers students to become the heroes of their own stories.

Our Impact

In 2023, The Happy Crew served 171 students, and with the upcoming Kākou Coffee House, the goal is to reach 500 students by the end of Year 2 and 1,000 by the end of Year 3. This expansion will significantly increase the support available to local teens.
