Our Story

Founded by Ambassador John L. Loeb, Jr. after the establishment of the Loeb Visitors Center at Touro Synagogue, the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom champions the principles of religious freedom and the separation of church and state. The Institute educates citizens about the enduring message in George Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregation.
